A first seizure is frightening. We teach first aid, decide if medicine is needed, and keep school life as normal as possible. Febrile seizures are handled differently from true epilepsy.

Staring spells, sudden jerks, or rhythmic shaking can all be seizures.
A short seizure in a toddler with fever is common and often does not mean lifelong epilepsy.
Most seizures stop. Longer ones need emergency medicine and a hospital.
A written plan lets teachers act calmly instead of panicking.
A phone clip of the event is gold. We also ask about sleep, screens and family history.
An EEG supports the type of epilepsy — it does not replace the story.
One medicine, regular sleep, and no missed doses work better than frequent switches.
Many children outgrow certain epilepsies or stay fully controlled.
We take a full history — onset, feeding, fever, sleep, school and any earlier reports.
Growth, chest, tummy, skin and development are checked. Tests are advised only if they change care.
A clear home plan is given, with a review so we know the child is settling.
Call emergency services if a seizure lasts over five minutes, repeats in a cluster, or the child is not waking as usual.
