No urine, dry tongue, doughy skin and a child who is less playful.

We do not treat a lab number without looking at the child.
Most children still do well with measured ORS. Some need a drip.
Plain water in huge amounts, soda, or adult ORS powders mixed ‘by eye’.
We show the exact ORS mix so the next illness is safer.
We take a full history — onset, feeding, fever, sleep, school and any earlier reports.
Growth, chest, tummy, skin and development are checked. Tests are advised only if they change care.
A clear home plan is given, with a review so we know the child is settling.
Urgent if there is no urine, repeated vomiting of ORS, or a puffy child who is breathless.
